Brothers & Sisters,

It is an incredible honor to serve as President of the Westminster Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 2889. Every day, we wear this badge not for ourselves, but for the community we are sworn to protect. Whether on the fireground, at a medical emergency, or supporting a local event, our work is a constant reminder that service to others is at the heart of who we are.

Local 2889 stands on the principle that public service is a sacred trust. As firefighters, we show up on the worst days of people’s lives—offering strength, compassion, and professionalism when it’s needed most. Our Association exists to ensure our members have the tools, training, and support required to answer every call with excellence.

This year and in the years ahead, we are focused on addressing two critical needs: increasing our staffing levels and supporting the construction of new fire stations. As our city grows, so must our ability to respond quickly and effectively. Proper staffing and strategically placed stations are not just operational improvements—they are life-saving investments. We are committed to working with city leaders, stakeholders, and the public to make these priorities a reality.

At the same time, we remain focused on strengthening the bond between our firefighters and the community. Through outreach programs, public education, charitable efforts, and daily interactions, we continue to build the trust that is essential to public safety.

We also continue to advocate for what matters most: safe working conditions, modern equipment, mental health resources, and fair support for those who serve. When we invest in the well-being of our firefighters, we’re investing directly in the safety and resilience of the neighborhoods we serve.

The challenges ahead will require unity, strength, and heart. I have no doubt that together, we will meet them—not for glory or recognition, but because service is our calling and our commitment.

Thank you for standing proud, giving selflessly, and showing every day what it truly means to serve. Let’s continue forward with courage, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to those who depend on us.

Stay safe, stay united, and stay community strong.

Sincerely,
Corbin Gray
Westminster Professional Firefighters President
